Law firm doubles the size of its real estate team

Mills & Reeve

The real estate team at Manchester law firm Mills & Reeve is on track to more than double in size team after welcoming eight new recruits.

Partners Mike Edge and Rachel Pitman joined Caroline Hanratty in January as part of the firm’s commitment to grow in the North West region.

Six months on, eight more lawyers have joined taking the team to 20.

Those who have joined include senior associate Alexandra Murphy, who worked with Mike and Rachel at their former firm, Pinsent Masons and associates Holly Fallon, Helen Brierley and Kelly Harrison.

The expansion brings a broad spectrum of commercial property experience, including development work, landlord and tenant, asset management, acquisitions, disposals and property finance.

Kate Barber, who is an experienced development and investment lawyer, has taken on the role of consultant, while Umara Naseer and Noshin Iqbal have joined as paralegals providing valuable transactional support and due diligence resource.

Finally, in a move to expand its offering in Manchester property litigation specialist Holly Hill has joined the Manchester team as an associate.

Mike said: “I am delighted to say that we have hit the ground running and it has been a very busy first six months. We have an exceptionally good team here at Mills & Reeve and I am pleased to welcome all of the eight new recruits.

“We now have real strength in depth and everyone will play a pivotal role in servicing our growing client base in the North West. The team has brought in new work to the firm and we have completed several high-profile deals in recent months with more in the pipeline.”

National head of real estate, Beverley Firth, added: “We are delighted with the progress which we are making in the North West.

“The arrival of Rachel and Mike has been the catalyst for further expansion and we are pleased at the successes we have had in attracting new talent and winning new work, including being appointed to the legal framework of Homes England.

“We have seen an increase in fee income of 20% in Manchester and we continue to look for exceptional people to help us build on this strong financial performance.”
