Elliot House becomes licensed wedding venue again

This August Elliot House, in Manchester, will be hosting its first wedding in more than 20 years following the renewal of the building’s licence as a space for couples looking to tie the knot.

The building was home to the city’s registry office for more than 30 years – providing a beautiful ceremony space in the heart of the city.

Many clients and guests brought this to the attention of staff at Greater Manchester Chamber, which is based within the building, recalling memories of their own weddings at Elliot House, or that of friends and family.

Local poet Tony Walsh – famous for writing ‘This is the Place’ – was among the thousands of Mancunians married in the historic building.

Nathan Chew, Chamber space general manager, said: “It was the romantic history of the building that inspired the Chamber space team to re-open the doors at Elliot House and welcome people to get married here once again.

“It is a unique venue thats stunning period features and ideal city centre location will undoubtedly provide couples with unforgettable wedding experiences.”

In light of Manchester Town Hall’s closure for refurbishment, the return of Elliot House weddings will provide the city with a historic venue that is similarly well-located in the heart of the city.

The grade II-listed building can cater for wedding ceremonies of up to 60 people. The two main spaces can also be used for drinks receptions and private dinners.

Elliot House and Gusto restaurant, located on the bottom floor of the building, have teamed up, providing couples with the option to hold their dinner or reception in Gusto’s 1920s-style restaurant.
