Stockport accountancy firm Booth Ainsworth has completed the acquisition of Whitehead & Co Accountants which has been based in the town since 2002.

The deal is par of their plans to expand and develop corporate services.

Whitehead & Co Accountants was founded by Allan Whitehead and Elaine Thomas in April 2002 providing a full range of accounting services to a wide spectrum of clients in the region.

The new staff members will operate from the Booth Ainsworth office in Stockport and will be joining the 100-strong team members already housed on Greek Street.

The merger took place in May 2018, strengthening the firm’s reputation as a lead advisor in the SME market, indicating a continued expansion in this area.

Allan Whitehead, managing partner of Whitehead & Co, said on joining Booth Ainsworth: “We’ll be offering our clients access to more specialist advice in VAT and corporate services with expertise on cloud accounting options.

“It is a natural fit for us in terms of our client base and similar service offering.”

Don Bancroft, managing partner of Booth Ainsworth, said: “We will continue to provide Whitehead and Co’s existing range of accounting and advisory services, enhanced now with the complementary offering from Booth Ainsworth.

“Our acquisition is an excellent example of our work to identify and capitalise on opportunities within our catchment area of Stockport, East Cheshire and the M60 corridor. It’s an excellent match with our existing team.”

Booth Ainsworth will be celebrating 60 years as an independent accountancy practice in 2019. This year, Don Bancroft took the helm as managing partner replacing David Powell, who is now senior partner.
