Santander funding supports new Blackley care centre

The new centre

Middleton-based Vestacare UK has secured new funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial to support a new eight-bed short stay centre.

The funding sits alongside a refinancing solution of an existing funding package provided by the bank.

Founded in 2007, Vestacare UK is a learning disability care specialist and care home provider, and has grown over the past decade to support 90 service users across three specialised facilities in the Greater Manchester area.

The business currently provides care via its Silverdene care home, which offers long-term residential care for young adults with learning disabilities, and the Oakdene Day Care centre, which offers day care for adults with learning disabilities.

The funding provided by Santander will fund the new ‘Paul Murphy Centre’, a specialist short stay centre and a hydrotherapy centre, which provides holistic and rehabilitating hydrotherapy, in Blackley, Manchester.

As a result of the funding, the firm has created 20 new jobs in the local community, with plans to hire 20 additional employees in 2019.

Santander has a dedicated healthcare team focused on supporting healthcare across the UK, and has become a leading provider of finance and support for the sector over the past five years.

Danny Hughes, director at Vestacare UK, said: “The support from Santander has been invaluable in our expansion process.

“Because of this we will be able to provide a much-needed service for the people of Greater Manchester.

“As well as offering a continuity in our excellent care services and a fully tailored environment for the people we care for, we will also be able to create new jobs in the local area and provide a significant boost to the local economy.”

Patrick Tierney, relationship director for specialist sectors group healthcare, Santander Corporate & Commerical, said: “Our strong relationship with the team at Vestacare UK has built up over the years, we are delighted to be able to continue to support such a compelling business as it looks to expand and provide care to more people within the Greater Manchester area.”
