Junkyard Golf Club to tee off in Liverpool

Grosvenor Europe has announced that Junkyard Golf Club, the crazy golf concept, is to open in Liverpool One.

The 17,000 sq ft site will be the brand’s fifth location in the UK and will launch in early 2019.

Located on The Terrace in the heart of Liverpool One’s dining and leisure offer, Junkyard Golf Club will be designed by an in-house team in conjunction with OBI Property.

The brand will be offering three unique nine-hole courses with unusual designs: Pablo, a ‘polluted paradise’, Gary, a ‘scrapyard disco’, and Bozo, a ‘dystopian fairground’.

All courses will include unusual props constructed from a whole batch of reclaimed and reworked parts.

From scrapyard slides to a hall of shattered dreams, a UV disco room, and every hole is a pun, too. Unique and twisted, prepare to putt your way through the out-of-the-ordinary with a sweet-themed cocktail in hand.

Junkyard Golf Club Liverpool has four bars dotted around the golf courses, serving up epic party cocktails – Post Melone and Hotline Ting to name just a couple, pimped out with tuck-shop treats such as party-rings and popping candy.

The main bunker bar will also be serving up classic fairground treats, including mouth-watering hotdogs and nachos. Food can be taken around the course during a round of golf.

Alison Clegg, director, asset management at Grosvenor Europe, said: “Junkyard Golf Club is a leading brand in competitive socialising and will enrich the leisure experience available in Liverpool One and the wider city centre.

“They add yet another reason to visit and enjoy Liverpool One, alongside our unique line-up of retailers, restaurants, leisure and events.”

Chris Legh, co-founder of Junkyard Golf Club, added: “Liverpool One was the obvious choice for our expansion plans in the North West.

“Each site follows our design principles of providing visitors with an immersive experience you cannot find with other crazy golf brands, plus a bar that can be enjoyed whether you are playing a round of golf or not.

“We are excited to welcome visitors to our new site in Liverpool One.”

The news follows the announcement in July that The Alchemist, the Palatine Private Equity–backed Simon Potts-led group, is to launch a brand-new concept bar, Aether, on Liverpool One’s Chavasse Park later this month.

Cushman and Wakefield and Metis acted for Liverpool One. Junkyard Golf Club was represented by OBI Property.
