Expert Apps draws on expertise to offer insight for subscribers

Two business partners have conquered ‘financial distress’ to create what they claim is a new era in social media.

Expert Apps offers a range of niche social networking apps which they say allow users to keep in touch with their industry news and events.

They cover property investment, fitness, martial arts, health and wellbeing, arts and crafts, and academic education.

Darren Galvin and Danny Webster said they founded the business through personal investments via credit cards and loans from institutions and friends.

Now, they say the venture has the potential to be a seven figure business.

Their model enables users to consume free content, videos, podcasts, news articles, or subscribe, for a small fee, to premium content from experts.

They say they have developed a unique licencing model which allows for people to become licence holders and earn royalties from the channels in the app with small investments. They say this has put them in prime position for seed investment.

Inside each app are channel licences, or categories, which are also sold to investors who wish to get involved.

Each month the executive team and all licence holders from each of the apps meet to brainstorm, share ideas, and discuss developments.

Expert Apps is now planning to licence to different industries, and there are moves to create at least five new apps during 2019.

The founders say they want to provide individuals with a one-stop connection to experts and a vast knowledge base full of educational resources.

Darren said this was what inspired him to pursue his idea for Expert Apps, after years of failing on his business journey.

He said that changed when he attended an event featuring guest speaker Lord Sugar: “The penny dropped that without education and support from experts, or those with expertise, it is very hard to succeed.”

Last month Expert Apps moved into bigger premises within Liverpool Innovation Park, with the aim, said Darren, of providing a world-class, niche social knowledge network.
