Motorists face delays of more than an hour following M56 crash

Motorists are facing delays of over an hour on the M56 heading into Manchester this morning.
Two lanes of the motorway heading into the city have been closed following an accident close to Manchester Airport
There are currently nine miles of tailbacks queuing from junction nine – the Lymm Interchange on the M6.
There are three fire engines currently at the scene, alongside North West Motorway Police officers.
The airport is warning travellers to allow extra time for journeys to the airport.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said three cars were involved in the collision.
She said: “We were called at 7.25am to reports of a collision near junction five, Eastbound, on the M56.
“It involves three cars. It is blocking two lanes.”
