New hotel makes its debut on the Manchester scene

Hotel Indigo

The latest entrant into Manchester’s bustling and ever-expanding hotel scene is now very much open for business.

Hotel Indigo has brought its brand of contemporary Bohemian chic to the city centre and is already proving to be a popular destination with visitors.

It is the first time the fast-growing Indigo brand has opened in Manchester and is a sign of the shift towards the upmarket end of the hotel offering in the city.

The 187-room hotel is part historic building and part rotunda tower and has taken two years of hard work to complete to the required standards.

The design of the smart and tasteful rooms has been informed by the shape of the building which means many of them have elegant curved walls.

The rooms are designed to highest standards and come with all the touches that you would expect. There is plenty of storage space, thick carpets and stylish bathrooms.

And the charm of the hotel is as much to do with the welcoming staff as the comfort and style of the rooms. The staff seem more than happy to go the extra mile to ensure their guests thoroughly enjoy their stay.

But the biggest winner for the new hotel is the fantastic location which is just the shortest of strolls from Victoria Station.

Many of the rooms have stunning views across Exchange Square and the next door National Football Museum. Deansgate, St Ann’s Square and Market Street are all just a few minutes away.

The hotel is aimed at both the business and visitor market and is certainly in a different league to the over populated budget market.

The fact that the main attractions such as the Northern Quarter and the shopping areas are minutes away has to be a major plus for the new venue.

And with prices starting at around £100 for a very comfortable and stylish double room the Hotel Indigo has lots going for it.

Thanks to its location there are plenty of choices for people looking for somewhere to eat within walking distance, but the hotel restaurant and bar is looking to become a destination in its own right.

The Mamucium Restaurant and Bar is on the ground floor of the hotel and serves dishes are prepared by double AA Rosette-winning chef Andrew Green, the former executive chef at The Lowry Hotel

The new hotel has been designed by local architects, 3D Reid and includes the 14-storey rotunda tower.

The £30m project has taken two years to complete and at its peak had 160 people working on it.

The plan is to create a unique experience and one that is a cut above the average overnight hotel destination and if first impressions count then that is certainly the case.
