Public consultation event on plans for 75 new council homes

Blackpool Council and Blackpool Coastal Housing are inviting people to a public consultation event on proposals for new council homes at Troutbeck Crescent, Mereside, Blackpool.

People will have the opportunity to view the plans and share their views.

This is the second consultation on proposals that look to redevelop the Troutbeck Crescent site with a mix of 75 new homes.

The new homes will reflect the type of homes most in demand in the area and address the need for more high quality affordable housing in Blackpool.

The plans include an emphasis on two-bedroom houses, and the inclusion of some two-bedroom dormer bungalows, as well as three-bedroom houses and one-bedroom flats.

The development looks to provide well designed homes with good space standards and low running costs within an attractive environment that integrates with the surrounding area, and creates an inviting gateway into Blackpool.

It is anticipated that the development will support the local economy by maximising the use of locally-based building contractors and local labour, and by providing training opportunities to young people in the area.

People can view the plans, speak to officers and provide feedback at the open consultation event to be held on Wednesday, January 9, at Blackpool Boys and Girls Club, Bowness Avenue, FY4 4TE between 2pm and 6pm.

Plans can also be viewed on Blackpool Council’s website.
