Architect practice open new office in Chester

Studio KMA

Oldham based architects’ practice Studio KMA has opened a second office in Chester.

The opening coincides with the recruitment of Peter Fisk as a director based in the city.

He will work alongside fellow director Stuart Hadfield, who will act as head of the office.

The opening of the Chester office has been planned for more than a year as a direct response to the expansion of the service offering.

The practice is moving from urban design and planning services, to embrace full service delivery, project management, BIM consultancy and employer’s agent roles.

Peter Fisk joins Studio KMA from Lovelock Mitchell where he was employed for more than five years as an associate.

He is a highly experienced BIM trainer and has a proven track record in public sector framework management and the delivery of award-winning education projects across North Wales and Greater Manchester.

The Chester studio, headed by Stuart Hadfield, is in 1,000 sq ft in newly refurbished offices on Nicholas Street in the city centre.

Peter Fisk said: “This is an exciting move for me.

“During my career to date I have been a great advocate of embracing and making the best use of the technology that is available to the industry.

“It helps practices provide a better quality of service to clients, more immersive experiences during design development and drives consistently superior production information from which to construct.

“I am looking forward using my skill set to continue to develop and enhance Studio KMA’s excellent reputation across the region.

“Having worked with Peter very effectively in the past, I was keen to bring him on board with Studio KMA so that we could continue our very strong working relationship to support business growth and diversity.

“We each have varying skill sets of our own which complement each other with a unique dynamic, ensuring that no matter what the project requirements may be, we are positioned to both effectively and efficiently respond to the client’s needs.”

Andy Titterton, Founding Director at Studio KMA, said: “Responding to client demand, it’s great to be in a position to extend the service to incorporate design delivery to our clients.

“Stuart and Peter are a fantastic team to be leading this element of the business and harnessing their relationships in the region, particularly in Chester and North Wales.

“They provide new strength to the Practice which will undoubtedly drive further change and progress.”

Working closely with affiliate professionals, there will be an initial headcount of four in the Chester studio including chartered architects, chartered technologist and architectural visualizers.

Additional recruitment during 2019 is expected in response to a healthy project pipeline which includes high rise and volume residential, heritage and conservation, leisure and education projects all coming forward for delivery during 2019.
