Iconic Lake District hotel up for grabs for £2.5m
An iconic hotel in the Lake District has been put up for sale for £2.5m.
The Hydro Hotel, at Bowness on Windermere, is being marketed by real estate advisor Colliers International.
The former manor house has 78 en-suite bedrooms, gardens, a restaurant and well-furnished grand public areas.
There is also a conference and meeting rooms, suitable for weddings and business seminars and leisure facilities including a heated indoor swimming pool and substantial staff accommodation.
Julian Troup, from Colliers International, said: “We are delighted to bring the Hydro Hotel to the market.
“It is an established and well-known hotel operating with a healthy trading base.
“Our instructions were that it should be “priced to sell” and consequently we are anticipating a favourable response to the marketing, particularly bearing in mind it is so rare to see a substantial Lakeland hotel with panoramic views coming to the open market.
“The hotel was acquired by the current owners in 2015 and has been the subject of a £1,700,000 refurbishment to most of the public areas and a substantial number of the “lake view” bedrooms.
“It currently has an anticipated annual turnover of around £1,800,000, and we are inviting “substantial offers” and have agreed with our clients to quote a guide level in the £2,500,000/2,750,000 range, with a view to generating serious interest for a quick sale.
“The hotel is situated in a delightful location, on the outskirts of Bowness village, with outstanding views of Lake Windermere and to the fells beyond.”
