Finance provider announces new chief executive

John Jenkins

Haydock Finance, the Blackburn-based SME asset finance provider, has appointed John Jenkins as chief executive, with immediate effect.

John brings more than 30 years of experience in finance, having previously held senior positions within the industry, including Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance, GE Capital Bank and Amicus Finance.

Jon Wilkinson, chairman of Haydock Finance, said: “This planned change in leadership will build on the cornerstones of the Haydock strategy.

“John is a highly experienced individual with a proven track record of strategic planning and executing successful strategies to deliver growth and diversification.”

At the beginning of 2018, it was announced that certain investment funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management, LLC, signed an agreement to acquire the majority shareholding in Haydock, investing alongside Haydock’s founder and chairman Jon Wilkinson.

Haydock delivered record new business levels in 2018 and became an approved lender under the Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme operated by the British Business Bank.

The accreditation follows the provision of a £25m block discounting facility from British Business Investments, a commercial arm of the British Business Bank, to Haydock in 2016 which helped grow its asset finance division.

The company has made a number of key appointments over 2018, not only to support and build on existing broker relationships, but also diversify its competitive offering, which now spans multi-tiered funding and specialist markets.

It has also identified a pipeline of new recruits to expand coverage nationally, extend market reach and improve service levels further still.

Jon Wilkinson, now in his new role of executive chairman, will focus on spending more time with customers and brokers.

London Stock Exchange Group’s ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ report, which is a celebration of the UK’s fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized businesses across the UK, recently identified Haydock as one of the British businesses demonstrating its strength in the market.

John Jenkins said: “This is an exciting time to be joining Haydock.

“I am looking forward to working with the talented team that has taken the company this far on its journey.

“The outlook in both core and new markets continues to offer considerable opportunity and we intend to further deliver growth and value for all stakeholders.”
