Big hitters invest in Cheshire software firm

Sir Terry Leahy

Two of the country’s best-known businessmen have invested in a software business in Cheshire.

Bill Currie, the founder of the William Currie Group, and former Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy have invested in Syrenis.

Syrenis, which is based in Daresbury, is a software business which specialises in privacy and personal data management.

The firm has an international customers base which it helps manage their customer marketing preferences, consent audits, and consent optimisation.

The company helps organisations take control of personal information that they hold, helping them to grow their databases and reduce the risks.

Founder Nicky Watson said: “Our goal is to simplify the management of personal information whilst maximising its value to organisations by providing them with a central platform with security, efficiency and intelligence built in by design.

“We sought to attract investment and board level input from tech-minded individuals who could help us accelerate our aspirations for the brand, particularly in North America, and we’re beyond thrilled that Bill and Sir Terry have invested.”

The William Currie Group, which was set up in 1997, has grown rapidly and has substantial shareholdings in a range of quoted and privately-owned firms.

Glenn Jackson, the chief executive of Syrenis said: “We’re very happy to be working with Bill and Sir Terry.

“Their track records in our sector and beyond speak for themselves and we believe that their expertise in our sector will give us real propulsion towards reaching our goals for the business earlier than planned.”

A spokesperson for the William Currie Group said: “We are delighted to invest in such a fast growth company with market-leading software and a strong, proven management team.”

Bill Currie and Sir Terry Leahy have joined the Syrenis board of directors.
