Former primary school up for grabs at auction

Birkenhead school

A former primary school in Birkenhead is up for grabs through auction.

The imposing two-storey red-brick building will go to auction later this week and has the potential to be converted for a variety of uses subject to planning permission.

The building was recently used as offices and has a guide price of £270,000.

Having most recently been used as an office block, the former school house retains many of its original features, including windows, fireplaces and ornate staircases.

Head of property at John Pye, Richard Reed said: “The location and potential for conversion at this property present a rare opportunity for investors.

“The building has been used as an office block, but subject to gaining the necessary consent could be reconfigured to retail, leisure or even present residential opportunities.

“Its original features are a great selling point as well and could certainly be taken advantage of to raise the level of finish in the property.

“Birkenhead itself is just a short hop on the Merseyrail from central Liverpool, and easily accessible by road from both the city and the M53 to the south.

“The property itself sits right in the heart of the town in a high street location, close to a good range of amenities and retail outlets.”
