New route links Manchester with Denmark’s second city

Scandinavian Airlines is launching a new direct route from Manchester to Aarhus, Denmark, on April 1.

The new route from Manchester Airport to Denmark’s second largest city will operate three times per week in each direction, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with tickets starting from £72 one way, or from £131 return.

Offering an alternative to Copenhagen and an exciting short break destination, Aarhus is a beautiful city, set on the coast and surrounded by forest.

With a vibrant mix of youthful energy and a living history, the city is home to great attractions including ‘Den Gamle By’, the Old Town Museum which offers a first-hand experience of Danish life in eras from times before 1900 up to the modern day, while the city’s ARoS Aarhus Art Museum is one of the largest in Northern Europe.

Niko Ek, general manager for SAS Europe, said: “We are delighted to add Aarhus to our direct destinations from Manchester Airport, adding to our existing direct routes from Mancheser to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Bergen.

“Aarhus is less known within the UK, but is already a popular city break for Scandinavian travellers, having held the title of European Capital of Culture in 2017, and we look forward to helping our passengers explore it.”

Julian Carr, aviation director at Manchester Airport, said: “It’s great to see SAS increasing its route network from Manchester.

“Aarhus is an exciting new destination for the airport and one that I’m sure our passengers will enjoy exploring.”

The Aarhus flights will depart Manchester at 11.10 and arrive into Aarhus at 13.55, returning from Aarhus at 09.45, arriving into Manchester at 10.35.
