Chief executive of region’s top tourist attraction resigns

Sue Grindrod

The chief executive of one of the North West’s most popular visitor attractions has stepped down from her role unexpectedly.

Sue Grindrod has been the chief executive of the Royal Albert Dock for the last four years.

Less than a month ago she was at the MIPIM property conference in the south of France representing the Royal Albert Dock.

During her tenure Sue was instrumental in securing Royal status for the Dock.

She organised the recent official visit by Prince Charles during which he unveiled the new plaque for Royal Albert Dock Liverpool.

Sue was appointed chief executive in December 2015, having previously chaired Gower Street Estates – now Royal Albert Dock Ltd – for nine years.

Royal Albert Dock is the company which manages the freehold interests of the dock and is responsible for its strategic development and management.

Royal Albert Dock is the North West’s most visited free tourist attraction and is the largest grouping of Grade I listed buildings in the UK within a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In leading the team, Sue’s work was transformative in its vision to realise the potential of the dock by increasing footfall.

The board, led by chairman, Dave Roscoe and representatives from Tate Liverpool, National Museums Liverpool & Aberdeen Standard Investments will undergo a restructure, alongside producing a reshaped 2019 events programme and a future strategic development plan.

The Board of Royal Albert Dock wishes Sue every success in the future.

Sue is chair and director of Liverpool Waterfront Business Partnership and deputy chair of Liverpool Visitor Economy Network.

She is also sits on the Liverpool World Heritage Site Steering Group.
