Police warn of lengthy delays in Manchester following late night incident

Police have warned of delays in North Manchester after an incident in the early hours.

The M66 is closed northbound at Bury following the police incident.

Traffic is being held between junction 2 for Bury to the A56 at Ramsbottom.

North West Motorway tweeted about the incident at 2.25am.

One lane is also closed southbound at junction 2 for ‘investigation work’ and there is heavy congestion in the area.

It is believed that the motorway will remain closed for several hour this morning.

There are currently long delays in the Bury area and heading towards the M62 and the M60 at Simister Island.
