UK’s largest completed build-to-rent scheme outside London unveiled

Clippers Quay

Developer Amstone Ventures has completed its 614 apartment build-to-rent (BTR) scheme at Clippers Quay in Salford Quays, close to MediaCityUK.

The entire completed development has now been handed over to Grainger, the UK’s largest listed residential landlord, three months ahead of schedule. Sir Robert McAlpine was the contractor for the project.

The £100m development is configured within five blocks and is the largest BTR completed scheme outside of London.

In addition to 614 homes for rent, the project includes more than 7,000 sq ft of resident amenity space, from cinema room to private dining room, residents lounge and co-working space.

Adnan Siddiqi, managing director at Amstone said: “Amstone is thrilled to have successfully completed this milestone project for the UK build-to-rent sector, ahead of schedule, and to an excellent standard.

“We’re looking forward to delivering more place-making build-to-rent developments in other parts of the UK with a further two projects coming to fruition later this year.”

Helen Gordon, Grainger chief executive, added: “We are delighted to have achieved full completion on Clippers Quay, bringing 614 high quality rental homes to Salford Quays.

“We’re very pleased with progress to date, with over 54% of phase one pre-leased prior to the building’s completion, and some great feedback from our residents.”

Amstone purchased the four-acre (1.76 hectare) site in 2014, achieved detailed planning approval in 2015, with forward funding and start-on-site in 2016.

Clippers Quay was designed by architects Leach Rhodes Walker. The £100m development is an exemplar in the BTR sector and has been shortlisted for several awards.
