Law firm TLT is keeping up its considerable growth momentum in Manchester with the appointment of partner Claire Hamilton, associate Carrie Whittle and legal assistant Nicole Keate, from rival operation JMW.

The specialist commercial and residential development team joins a growing list of high profile appointments in recent months, including construction partner Sean McCay.

Hamilton adds considerable experience in property investment, development and finance to the firm’s real estate team, including commercial sales and purchases.

She also brings valuable in-house experience from her time as in-house counsel at MCR Property Group.

The team will continue to work for MCR Property Group at TLT, a real estate investment and development company focused on the strategic acquisition and repositioning of commercial, residential, industrial and retail assets across the UK with more than 150 sites in total.

Graeme Orchison, location head for TLT in Manchester, said: “This is fantastic momentum and an important piece of the jigsaw in terms of our ongoing strategy for growth and investment in the region driven by client need.”

David Smithen, real estate partner at TLT, said: “We are seeing a healthy mix of commercial and residential development with significant opportunities for entrepreneurial and ambitious developer/investors like MCR Property Group.

“TLT’s national real estate and development practices are well-placed to deliver a wide range of services in a way that meets the needs of dynamic clients like this and this recruitment is very much a part of those plans.”

Claire Hamilton added: “I’m really excited to be joining TLT. It’s great to be joining a team of experienced lawyers who are seeing significant growth in Manchester and across the UK. TLT were the obvious choice and will be a great fit for my clients and the team.”

The team join development partner John Hyde, who moved from Weightmans, in April 2017.

Earlier this week TLT revealed it had poached rival firm HRC Law’s five strong corporate team in Manchester.
