Final phase of housing plan will create 150 homes

Plans have been submitted for the final phase of a new housing development which will see 150 homes built in Bolton, Greater Manchester and create around 160 construction jobs.

Homebuilder and placemaker Northstone, part of Peel L&P, has submitted a planning application to Bolton Council for a further 131 homes at Roscoe’s Farm in Westhoughton.

The application follows approval of the first 19 homes earlier in July which will start on site this Autumn, with completion due around April 2020.

The Bolton Road development in Westhoughton, named Roscoe’s, is the first scheme in Northstone’s portfolio following the launch of the housebuilder in October last year.

A mix of two-, three- and four-bed properties will be built at the site to meet local housing needs with homes suitable for young couples, families and downsizers.

The development will feature outward-facing communities, with mature landscaping, gardens, driveways and pocket parks within the scheme to help create safer neighbourhoods and a sense of place.

The firm says homes will be led by great design and will feature innovative energy-saving technology to significantly reduce household bills and spacious, flexible living for all.

Phil Wilson, Northstone chief executive, said: “Plans for our first housing development in Westhoughton are progressing well with consent already given for the first 19 homes at Roscoe’s Farm.

“We’ve now submitted a planning application for the remaining 131 houses to complete the site which is a step in the right direction to meet local housing needs and boost employment in the area.

“Our homes have been thoughtfully designed to suit this location and we look forward to being able to establish Northstone with its first development in Westhoughton.”

Planning permission for 106 new homes at Roscoe’s Farm was initially granted to Jones Homes in 2016.

Northstone subsequently purchased the site and has worked with Bolton Council and the community to redevelop the plans and house types to better suit the needs of the area.
