The fire started at 1am at the Renault Showroom in St Mary’s Way close to the town centre.

.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said that 14 fire engines plus special appliances are at the scene.

GMFRS Area Manager Ben Levy said: “We currently have 14 fire engines plus special appliances at the scene and our crews are working hard to fully locate and control the fire.

“I would urge anyone living nearby to please keep their windows and doors closed and for people to avoid the area as the road has been fully closed by police.

“As we enter the morning rush hour there may well be some congestion but we will work closely with police and other colleagues to reduce this where possible.”
