Wellbeing in the workplace in 2019 is non-negotiable

Listen; wellbeing in the workplace in 2019 is non-negotiable.  That’s how important it is.

People have to love working where they do; not like; love.

I actually find it hard to believe we are still talking about this, yet I guess it tells us that there are still some unscrupulous business leaders out there who care about getting the job done, hitting their targets, perhaps making money more than they do about their people.

Maybe others are finding it so hard to ‘keep the lights on’ that all means justify the end, even at the expense of health and wellbeing.

Perhaps their team members are so desperate for a job to make ends meet they will put up with anything.

Well, shame on them; and by that, I mean shame on them all, the bosses and the team members too.

What we say to bosses and business owners is ‘don’t do it’ and what we say to their teams is ‘don’t put up with it’.

Easy said eh?  Easier said than done?  I understand that; I just don’t agree with it.

I think people without health and wellbeing in the workplace need to point the finger at themselves, because ultimately, it’s self-inflicted.

So why don’t we start there?

If we want it to be better, we have to take responsibility for making it better.  That means believing it can be better, insisting it gets better, knowing we’re worth it, and then doing something about it.  Now.

We have to stop moaning about it.

We have to stop blaming the boss for it.

We have to stop hypnotising ourselves into believing we’re stuck with it.

We have to stop doing ‘woe is me’ together.

I have seen workplaces with parties and free booze and massages and pool tables, but if the boss is a bully, it’s all just a waste of time.

So if you’re a bullying boss, stop it, and if you’re working for one, stop it.

And if you want to improve your wellbeing immediately, come to our breakout and we’ll get you started, right away.

I have seen workplaces change overnight, because it’s all attitude as usual; the change is easy.
