Partnership will ensure smoother smart metering services

Liverpool-based BES Metering Services has agreed a new partnership with TVS Supply Chain Solutions, which will facilitate the installation of smart meters all over the country.

The contract will support BES Metering Services field engineers in installing electricity and gas smart meters to customers nationwide, as Chorley-based TVS Supply Chain Solutions will provide supply chain and logistics services, as well as the procurement and provision of associated smart metering products.

In a bid to lower energy usage, encourage renewable energy generation and tackle global warming, the Government has targeted the installation of more than 53 million smart meters in homes and businesses by the end of 2024, and BES is committed to supporting this initiative.

Michelle Davidson, co-owner and director of Fleetwood-based parent company BES Utilities, said: “We are thrilled to be working with TVS SCS to support our nationwide smart meter installations roll out.

“We recognise and appreciate their supply chain and logistics expertise, and this was fundamental in our decision to join forces. I’m confident this collaboration will result in an efficient and seamless process, providing our customers with first class service.”

TVS SCS will ensure BES Metering Services vans are fully equipped and they will deliver them to engineers up and down the country.

Andrew Jones, TVS Europe and North America chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be working with BES Metering Services.

“We have listened carefully to their requirements and developed a solution which will deliver high levels of efficiency and an end-to-end supply chain solution. We will take a partnership approach to the relationship to ensure that our new customer is delighted with the service we provide and the results that we deliver.”

BES Utilities acquired the specialist metering services division in June, for an undisclosed sum.

All 80 staff of what was known as Access Install transferred to the new business.

At the time of the acquisition Andy Pilley, co-founder and chairman of BES Utilities, said: “Through this acquisition we now have our very own dedicated metering installation and servicing company and the importance of this cannot be overstated.

“By combining this new internal capability with the services of our existing trusted partners, we will improve the speed and reliability of metering appointments as well as access to the largest metering technologies, and that is great news for customers.

“On top of this, having our own metering business demonstrates our commitment towards meeting the Government’s smart meter roll-out target.”
