Sports nutrition business Science in Sport (SiS) has made its second boardroom appointment in as many months with the announcement today of a group e-commerce director.

The Lancashire business said highly-experienced digital executive Neil Tinegate is joining the group, which is the official sports nutrition supplier to many professional cycling teams and organisations including Team INEOS, British Cycling, Cycling Australia, USA Cycling and USA Triathlon.

SiS also supplies more than 80 professional football clubs in the UK and is an official partner to British Triathlon and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.

Last month it announced the appointment of James Simpson as its new chief financial officer.

Sis said Mr Tinegate has a track record in digital innovation and online sales growth at businesses including Home Retail Group, where his roles included head of digital innovation at Argos, and at EMI Music, where his roles included vice president digital projects.

He will be joining Science in Sport from Heineken, where he is currently director of e-commerce & product Europe.

Mr Tinegate, who has extensive international and technical experience, graduated in Business Information Systems and also has an MBA.

As SiS’s group e-commerce director, he will hold international responsibility for the strategic and operational aspects of the PhD.com and SiS.com websites and for online sales on other platforms. His start date at the group is January 9, next year.

SiS chief executive, Stephen Moon, said: “I am delighted that Neil Tinegate is joining Science in Sport in the important role of group e-commerce director.

“His track record of driving online growth in international markets for brand-led businesses will be of great value to the group as we continue on our trajectory of rapid online sales growth.”

AIM-listed SiS was founded in 1992.

Operating out of Nelson, it announced earlier this year that interim sales for the six months to June 30, had reached £24.9m, up 152% compared with the same period last year (£9.9m), reflecting the acquisition of PhD Nutrition in December 2018, and strong growth of the SiS brand.
