Bars group creates 60 jobs with latest Manchester opening

Tokyo Industries, the Manchester-based multi-concept operator, will launch its sixth venue in the city on November 14, with the launch of BLVD Manchester.

Following the successful launch of high-end venue Impossible in Manchester in 2017, Tokyo Industries is looking to replicate its success.

The group says BLVD Manchester will bring a high-end drinking and dining concept to the city and looks to breathe new life into the former Neighbourhood site in Spinningfields.

The new site will create 60 jobs. The group is already responsible for 280 members of staff across its city centre venues.

BLVD Manchester has worked with Manchester nightlife experts Viper to host a VIP launch evening on November 14, which it claims will be the biggest launch of the year.

With 36 venues in the UK, Tokyo Industries began in Oldham in 1997 and has seen rapid expansion in recent years, both in the UK and internationally.

The operator has since added to its overseas portfolio with new openings of ‘HANGAR 8289’ in Ibiza, the Ben Kelly-designed ‘[DIS]ORDER’ in Los Angeles and ‘INDUSTRIAL AVENUE’ in Dubai.

Chief executive Aaron Mellor said: “Having started Tokyo Industries back in 1997, it’s hard to believe we are here opening our sixth venue in Manchester.

“We’re incredibly excited to add the launch of BLVD Manchester, adding to the ever-changing landscape of this great city.

“We want to captivate our audience and offer them something exclusive and modern, yet with the comforts of a retained familiarity.”

He said BLVD Manchester will combine modern day dining, superior drinks and dynamic late-night entertainment.

Tokyo Industries said it has established some of the UK’s most iconic bars, clubs and venues including Digital and Tup Tup Palace in Newcastle, Church in Leeds and in Manchester with Factory 251, South, Whiskey Down, Impossible, Reds True Barbecue and now BLVD.
