New easyJet route to Tenerife takes off from Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Liverpool John Lennon Airport and easyJet celebrated the carrier’s first flight to Tenerife this week.

The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is a firm favourite for those looking for a short haul Winter break and the new route provides an additional Winter sun destination for passengers from the North West region.

Departing twice a week, the airline is expected to carry 8,500 passengers throughout the Winter on its Airbus A320 aircraft operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

This inaugural flight is the 33rd route easyJet now operates from Liverpool, a base it has been serving since 1997.

Ali Gayward, UK Commercial Manager at easyJet, said: “We’re delighted to be adding Tenerife to easyJet’s range of destinations from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

“It’s really exciting to see our first flight depart and highlights our commitment to providing affordable routes to Winter-sun destinations from the airport.
