Traffic jams

Motorists heading south on the M6 in Cheshire are being warned to expect long delays following a collision involving a car and a lorry.

Two lanes of the motorway have been closed and motorists are being warned to expect delays of up to an hour.

Queuing traffic is stretching as far north as Junction 17 at Sandbach and as far south as Junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent.

Highways England say there are six miles of queues with delays of up to 70 minutes.

They tweeted: “Please be aware there are long delays on the M6 southbound between J16 and J15 Stoke due to this collision.

“There is approx. Six miles of congestion back to J17 which is likely to add around 70 mins onto usual journey times.”
