Childcare group expands portfolio with latest acquisition

Law firm Clarke Willmott has assisted in the sale of a popular Harrogate nursery to the Greater Manchester-based Just Childcare group, for an undisclosed sum.

Corporate partner Helen Wong advised Safehands Nursery on the disposal of the family-run nursery that cares for up to 70 children.

Owner Fiona Stevens, a qualified nursery nurse with more than 16 years’ experience, established the business in 2004, and is supported by husband Rob.

Safehands was sold on a freehold basis through Christie & Co, with childcare business agent Vicky Marsland of Christies handling the sale.

Helen Wong, who is based in Clarke Willmott’s Manchester office, specialises in nursery sector sales and acquisitions, said she was delighted for Fiona and Rob and their three children.

“Fiona is a consummate professional and over the past 15 years has successfully provided local families with high standards of care in a homely, nurturing environment.

The acquisition takes Denton-based Just Childcare to 54 settings across the North West, Yorkshire and the South West, providing care to more than 5,600 children.
