Mayor marks start of work on next phase of £90m Parliament Square development
Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, has visited the site of Liverpool’s £90m Parliament Square development to officially mark the next phase of work.
The Legacie Developments project, which is being constructed on the edge of the Baltic Triangle, will include 500 luxury apartments across four blocks.
It will also feature a public plaza including a restaurant and boutique shops which will open up the area between Parliament Street and the Baltic area.
Legacie Developments says the scheme, which has had huge interest from domestic and international property investors, will bring high-spec ‘Manhattan style’ apartments to Liverpool. The main residential block will also contain a swimming pool, spa and state-of-the-art gymnasium.
Construction staff started work on the next phase of the development this week. It includes specialist piling work to prepare the ground for the steel structures.
“We have made good progress and we’re now moving into the next phase by preparing the ground for the steel structures. Parliament Square is a flagship development which will help transform a key part of the city and provide a significant boost to the local economy,” said Legacie’s founder and managing director, John Morley.
“These apartments are being compared to similar schemes in Manhattan which offer the same sort of quality apartment living.”
Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson praised the scheme. He said: “This is a solid development that is not only creating jobs but provides a quality residential offer. It will have a positive impact on the city’s economy.

“It will complement the Baltic Area and will help transform the area around Parliament Street.”
Parliament Square has helped created more than 150 contstruction jobs including the appointment of 10 apprentices by Legacie. Work is expected to be completed by Summer 2021.
Prices for the one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments start at £94,000.
A penthouse at the top of the building, which includes its own cinema room, was listed on the market with Aspen Woolf for more than £1.5m.
