Radisson and Hotel Gotham heavyweights join MHA executive committee

Danielle Abdul and Kumar Mishra have been welcomed onto the Manchester Hoteliers’ Association (MHA) executive committee as the organisation continues to expand its presence.

Kumar has a strong track record in the hospitality sector, having been employed by Edwardian Hotels London for more than 14 years.

Prior to his move to Manchester, for the past four years Kumar was general manager at the prestigious Hampshire Hotel, in Leicester Square London.

Danielle, who joins the team as MHA treasurer, comes from the accounts and the human resources department at Hotel Gotham.

Adrian Ellis, chairman of the MHA, said: “Kumar and Danielle bring with them a wealth of knowledge and expertise, which will be a huge added value to the MHA executive committee.

“As Manchester’s hospitality sector continues to evolve and diversify, it’s crucial that we have hotelier representatives on the committee of their calibre and cache. I look forward to working with them.”

Kumar and Danielle will be on the committee alongside Jacqui Griffiths, general manager of Cultureplex’s Native Hotel; Michael Sheldon, general manager of Clayton Hotel; and Jane O’Mahony, general manager of the Princess Street hotel.

Kumar said: “This is a prestigious role which I’m incredibly happy to accept.

“Having worked in the hotel industry for over 14 years in London, I’m looking forward to bringing my insights and knowledge to Manchester’s vibrant hospitality scene.”

The chair of the association – along with general managers of the 50 hotel members that form the MHA – previously designed four principals to highlight what the association stands for, and to further promote the hospitality industry in the city region.

Talent and addressing the skills gap, sustainability, conferences and economic impact and environmental support are the strategic initiatives MHA has decided to focus its attention on.

Danielle and Kumar will be assisting with the management and operations of the MHA and helping deliver on the four initiatives.
