The award-winning corporate team at regional law firm Napthens has expanded its ranks with the appointment of senior associate solicitor Jo Cooper.

Jo, who will be based at the firm’s Preston office, joins Napthens after five years with Addleshaw Goddard in Manchester where she advised businesses across a range of sectors on a wide variety of corporate transactions.

She has worked on complex and sizeable deals including the recent £220m sale of a North West business to a US buyer. Her experience also includes several months spent on secondment in the legal team of a FTSE100 company.

Jo’s arrival is on the heels of a record year for Napthens’ corporate team, which transacted its largest volume of deals by value during 2019 and saw it ranked among the top 10 in the Experian deals table for the North West region.

Anwyl Partnerships, specialists in the provision of residential land and build developments, continues to strengthen its growing team and has announced the key appointment of Jack McCabe as land manager.

Jack brings with him five years’ experience working as a land and commercial property Chartered Surveyor in Manchester, where his advisory role centred on the identification, acquisition, and disposal of land and property across the North West.

At Anwyl, based in Ewloe, near Chester, Jack will be responsible for sourcing, acquiring, and delivering new immediate residential development opportunities across a range of family housing tenures, including PRS, retirement living and extra care.

Burnley-based digital marketing company +24 Marketing says it has further strengthened its growing reputation as one of the North West’s premier technology businesses by recruiting former Burnley Council brand manager Amber Corns.

Amber has joined +24’s burgeoning team of digital marketing experts, creatives and software developers as account manager, working alongside founder and managing director Dave Walker and marketing manager Sam Keenan.

This newly-created role is the latest in a string of newly-created posts for the business as it enjoys unprecedented growth over the past 12 months.

Amber joins +24 after five years as Burnley Brand Manager. She said: “My background is in big brand marketing, having worked for PZ Cussons, Northern Foods, Boohoo, the Co-op head office, on brands like Goodfellas Pizza, Carex handwash. North West law firm SAS Daniels Solicitors is expanding its team with the addition of eight new starters.

The commercial property team has welcomed solicitors Marina Banks from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner to work in Stockport, and Ben Thomas from Oliver & Co to work in Chester.

Furthermore, the residential property team has made additional recruits to its Stockport team, appointing Claire Stockwell as a conveyancer, Aisha Tanveer as a conveyancing assistant, and Sehrish Iqbal as a paralegal.

Elsewhere across the firm, Tahsin Khan has joined from Lanyon Bowdler as an employment and HR solicitor in Stockport, Shameen Ali has joined as a dispute resolution solicitor in the Congleton office, while Emma Royle started as an HR apprentice within the central management team.

Global marketing services business APS Group has strengthened its team with two new senior appointments.

Danny Turnbull comes on board as group head of agency services while James Lawton-Hill joins the Cheadle Heath-based group as marketing director.

Both will be based at the company’s Greater Manchester headquarters and will support the group’s international sites across the UK, Europe and the US.

Danny joins from Stein IAS, where he was EMEA managing director for three years.

Prior to this, he was managing director of B2B agency, gyro Manchester.

With more than two decades’ experience leading and growing businesses within the global creative services industry, Danny will be responsible for expanding the group’s local and international client base as well as introducing a broader range of creative and production services to existing clients, such as Philips, British Heart Foundation, Superdrug and Royal London.

James’s previous experience includes nearly five years in the professional services industry, as well as holding a number of senior marketing roles at Brother UK and Chime Communications.

He has more than 16 years’ B2C and B2B marketing experience across a range of industries and will be responsible for leading an ambitious global marketing strategy as APS continues to grow.
