Dakota Manchester unveils plans for £1m terrace transformation

The proposed terrace scheme

Dakota Manchester has revealed plans for an extensive refurbishment of its waterside terrace, to be unveiled in Spring 2020.

With a £1m investment, the terrace will complement the hotel’s restaurant, bar, Champagne Room and Cigar Garden.

The 170 sq m sweeping terrace will be a dedicated outdoor space, with retractable canopies to the roof and sides for sunnier days.

Covered and warmed by state-of-the-art external heaters, the new terrace will be open all year round come rain or shine.

A beautiful retreat in the city centre, the new-look terrace will be an ideal spot for al fresco drinking and dining, also available for exclusive use and events for up to 80 guests seated and 100 standing.

A minimal structure will frame the terrace, with venetian fencing and stone covered flooring creating a modern, contemporary feel.

The redesign concept has been created by KPP Architects and features cool, understated seating and dining areas and muted tones of luxe décor, in true Dakota style. Green foliage and climbing trees create a hidden hideaway in this Northern Quarter setting.

Dakota Manchester’s general manager, Matt Townley, said: “We are continuing to enhance and invest in Dakota Manchester, to ensure we are offering guests an unparalleled experience in the city.

“The terrace will bring a new element to the hotel, allowing for private events, drinks receptions and al fresco dining – when the sun is shining.

“Dakota Manchester focuses on providing an outstanding experience and service for guests, and the terrace gives us another space to showcase what Dakota is all about.”

Situated on Ducie Street, close to Piccadilly Station, Dakota Manchester transformed the city’s skyline, when it opened in May 2019.

The boutique hotel houses 137 luxury bedrooms, boasting 20 luxury suites – the most in Manchester, and the penthouse suite, known as the Grand Deluxe Suite, is the largest and grandest suite in the city.

The name Dakota was inspired by the aircraft, which transformed the face of air travel by making stylish travel and impeccable service available to all.

The Dakota brand has applied this ethos to its hotels, providing guests with style, sincere hospitality and service based on timeless, classic values, to deliver an unforgettable experience.
