Luxury homes to be built on site of derelict school

Hulme Hall Grammar School

Luxury homes are to be built on the site of a former grammar school in Stockport.

The former site of Hulme Hall Grammar School in Cheadle Hulme is finally to be redeveloped after a planning application for 37 new homes was approved.

Since the school moved to Davenport over two years ago the buildings and have been targeted by vandals

The new scheme, put forward by local developer PH Homes together with Seddon Developments, is for a total of 37 luxury homes consisting of 13 apartments and 24 houses.

The properties range from two bedroomed to spacious five and six bedroomed family homes.

The designs are sympathetic to the local conservation area, with which PH is very familiar – having restored and converted the historic Hulme Hall itself, which dates back to 1419, into an award-winning luxury development back in 2014.

“We know this area very well”, said Philip Hughes, Managing Director of PH Homes. “Not only did we successfully return Hulme Hall to its former glory, but our Head Office is less than three miles away; so we’re well aware that this is a super-prime location and one of the area’s best addresses.”

“We’re delighted to have been given this opportunity to create a new residential development in the area”, continued Philip Hughes.

”The location really couldn’t be better, especially for families with the fantastic choice of schools nearby and Cheadle Hulme centre with shops, restaurants and train station in easy walking distance, I know the local residents will welcome the redevelopment of the derelict site into a new residential neighbourhood, which will now start in the spring”.

Work is scheduled to start on site Spring 2020
