Property firm snaps up site in Bolton

Yorkshire-based Empire Property has acquired a second property in Bolton.

The firm is nearing completion of its £24m GDV conversion of Globe Works mill in the town.

The conversion of the former Globe Works textile mill will see Empire creating 150 residential apartments.

An outline planning application for their latest development is due to be submitted in March for approximately 500 apartments.

Once plans are approved Empire expects to start build early next year.

Prior to acquiring the textile mill, Empire completed the successful conversion of a former office block on Bradshawgate into 81 apartments.

Managing director of Empire Paul Rothwell said: “When we first visited Globe Works Mill with a view to purchasing it, I felt sad that this amazing landmark building was being left to rot.

“This is a gateway site and deserved to be preserved. And what a fantastic way to bring people into this area of the town.

“We have kick-started the regeneration of this part of Bolton and now that we have the opportunity to develop the nearby site, we will be extending the reach of the town centre, creating a new community. It’s really exciting.”

Empire has already sold many of the apartments at Globe Works off plan and will be opening a marketing suite complete with show apartment next month.
