Green light for £10m hotel scheme in South Liverpool

The proposed Longman Drive hotel

Liverpool architecture practice Falconer Chester Hall, in association with a team led by J10 Planning, has secured planning permission for a hotel on Longman Drive, Speke, Liverpool.

The £10m, 150-room hotel, will be delivered on Longman Drive.

This five-storey, new build hotel will be located on a current brownfield site on a prime main road into Liverpool city centre.

The scheme has been designed for Cosgrove North West and was approved at today’s planning hearing (March 10).

“It is wonderful news that we have been granted planning permission on this site,” said associate director Stephen Fieldsend.

“The development will enhance the streetscape and provide an active frontage to Speke Boulevard.

“The hotel offers a key amenity that could be utilised by the many industries operating in Speke. The design is strong and bold, but with the provision of carefully considered hard and soft landscaping the hotel will sit well within its context and present guests with a pleasant environment to enjoy.”

Steven Cosgrove, of Cosgrove North West, said: “This site provides a prime location on a busy road into Liverpool city centre, a short drive to key landmarks and leisure facilities in the city centre and also in close proximity to the successful Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

“The hotel will create an inclusive environment to cater for a diverse range of users. We are delighted with the final design and the positive outcome from the planning meeting today.”

Other consultants on the scheme: Planning consultants – J10 Planning; M&E – RBA; Landscape architect – Yd2 Squareyard; Transport consultant – The Traffic Transport & Highway Consultancy.
