One of Manchester’s best-known restaurants to get new lease of life

Moss Nook

One of Manchester’s best-known restaurants could reopen after it was bought by a leisure group.

The Moss Nook close to Manchester Airport was one of the most popular restaurants in the city for many years.

Pauline and Derek Harrison opened the Moss Nook in 1973 and was for a very long time one of Manchester’s most celebrated restaurants. It specialised in French cuisine.

The Moss Nook closed its doors in 2011 and had been in the same ownership ever since.

The site has now been acquired off market by the NewPark Group and Hale Leisure Limited.

Alexander Lyons, from Hale Leisure said: “This was a fantastic acquisition as its one of the last remaining freehold sites in such close proximity to Manchester Airport.

“The airport is undergoing a huge period of growth with airport city alongside the likes of The Hut Group who are about to start building their new flagship headquarters there.

“We are considering a number of options for the site.”

Mike Bathurst from Edwards and Co acted for the sellers.
