Bolton’s largest nightclub offered for guide price of £7,500

The Loco nightclub

The 1,000-capacity Loco nightclub on Bolton’s Bridge Street is due to go under the hammer at the next North West property auction held by auctioneer Pugh in April.

The online auction, on April 21, will feature around 100 properties and plots of land, alongside the well-known town-centre nightclub.

Loco was launched in 2013 after a £500,000 investment in what was the former New York New York club, bringing 20 jobs to the town.

The property’s spacious 10,000 sq ft over two floors made Loco Bolton’s largest club.

Now the building is being put up for sale, with a guide price of £7,500 and, say auctioneers, the potential for a new lease of life.

“This is a handsome period property with enormous potential for alternative uses, subject to any new owner gaining the relevant planning consent,” said Paul Thompson, managing director of Pugh.

“This is a great redevelopment opportunity and we hope that a strategic investor will give a new future to this well-known Bolton building.”

Established 26 years ago, Pugh says it is the largest auctioneer outside of London and was acquired by property consultant Eddisons in 2016.

Last year the firm offered more than 1,000 lots for sale at its Manchester and Leeds auctions, achieving a success rate of 85% and generating in excess of £90m in sales.
