Manchester organisations join forces to feed NHS staff

Eat MCR, Manchester Young Professionals (MYP) and Manchester’s Finest have today announced a scheme, Feed Our Heroes, to help feed NHS workers on the front line in Greater Manchester.

The scheme will see the organisations providing NHS workers with hot meals and essential groceries from local restaurants, shops and coffee shops.

From a simple hot meal or milk, fruit, vegetables and bread, the scheme aims to make a difference to NHS workers’ lives, supporting all medical staff including surgeons, porters, nurses, catering staff, midwives, paramedics and GPs.

Feed Our Heroes is currently supplying the Stock Exchange Hotel – co-owned by former Manchester United teammates Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville – which is currently housing NHS workers free of charge, with bread and other essentials from Pot Kettle Black.

A partnership with taxi firm Street Cars will also see them transport the supplies.

Looking to roll this out further, Eat MCR, Manchester Young Professionals and Manchester’s Finest are now looking to partner with restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and other food outlets from across the region to provide for the front line workers.

From those who would like to donate goods, or looking to deliver items to hospitals across the region, the scheme is open to all who wish to help.

Jake Ansbro, founder of Eat MCR said: “NHS workers are the everyday heroes.

“They stand for us when we’re at our most vulnerable, and we feel strongly that it’s time to show our appreciation and give something back.”
