Waterfront site to host series of socially distanced drive-in concerts this Summer

Russell Watson is one of the artists booked to appear

Live Nation Entertainment, the world’s leading entertainment company, has announced that Peel L&P’s Liverpool Waters will be one of 12 venues across the UK to host a series of live socially-distanced drive-in concerts this Summer.

The events will feature some of the biggest names in music.

The concerts will be held at Central Docks, part of Liverpool Waters, the £5bn regeneration scheme which will see the creation of five brand new neighbourhoods, breathing life back into the city’s historic docklands.

From Wednesday, July 22, until August 28, some of the biggest names in UK music will perform live on stage at the waterfront location, backed by a full concert production that audiences can experience from the comfort and safety of their designated area, with each vehicle appropriately distanced from one another, in line with the Government’s social distancing guidelines.

Confirmed artists due to take the stage in Liverpool include household names such as Tony Hadley, Lightning Seeds, Beverley Knight, Russell Watson, Embrace as well as Ash, Gary Newman, Cream Classical Ibiza, Sigala, Brainiac and Dizzee Rascal, with more to be announced.

With a capacity of 300 cars per show, the concerts will feature quality sound from a live stage with a full state-of-the-art sound system, lighting rig and high definition LED screens, creating an arena or stadium concert feel in a setting to help protect fans, artists, crews and staff at all times.

Liza Marco, asset manager at Liverpool Waters, part of Peel L&P, said: “We know that so many people will be missing the opportunities to go to festivals and concerts that the Summer would usually bring, so we’re delighted to be able to host these concerts, for people to come along with family and friends, to enjoy some fantastic live music in a safe way.

“Liverpool Waters has hosted some incredible, diverse events in the past, such as Creamfields Steel Yard and last year holding the European Tour’s Hero Challenge at Princes Dock, so we’re excited to welcome people back to the waterfront this Summer.”
