Appointments: UBS Global Wealth Management; Palatine Private Equity; Red Flag Alert; World Business Angels Investment Forum

Jane Booth, UBS

UBS Global Wealth Management has appointed Jane Booth as regional head of the North West as part of several appointments to its Manchester-based team.

Jane has spent the last four years at UBS Global Wealth Management, managing the wealth of entrepreneurs and their families across the North West region. Previously, she trained and practised as a lawyer, including a three-year stint at Mills & Reeve.

She said: “Our clients in the region have increasingly complex needs, and that’s why we are building a team in the North West with a diverse range of specialisms to help them achieve their financial goals.”

UBS has also recruited Fahim Amdani as a director in its Manchester office while client advisor Oli York has relocated from the group’s Newcastle office to the North West and former apprentice Sara Hussain has moved from its London team.

Jonathan Brown, head of regions at UBS Global Wealth Management, said: “The North West is a hugely important market for UBS and that will only increase over the coming years as it continues to grow as an entrepreneurial hub.”

Greg Holmes, Palatine Private Equity

Mid-market private equity firm Palatine has appointed Greg Holmes as an investment manager in its Impact Fund team based in Manchester.

Palatine’s Impact Fund was launched in 2017 and invests in profitable businesses making a positive impact on the environment or society.

The returns-focused £100m fund, one of the first dedicated to impact investments in the UK mid-market, supports management buyouts, growth capital and buy-and-build models, investing £5m up to £10m, and has so far completed five deals.

Holmes has nine years’ experience in the North West corporate finance market, having spent five years with PwC and then three-and-a-half years with NorthEdge Capital in Manchester.

His appointment follows that of London-based Impact Partner Tristan Craddock, who joined the firm in May from Rutland Partners.

Beth Houghton, Partner and Head of Impact at Palatine Private Equity, said: “Impact investing is at the heart of our approach at Palatine, and with an increased focus on sustainability and social impact from both investors and management teams, we have a strong pipeline of activity.

“We’re therefore really pleased that Greg has joined our team and I’m sure he’ll make a strong contribution in the coming months as we complete more deals.”

Meanwhile Palatine’s Manchester head office team has relocated the short distance from The Zenith Building at Spring Gardens to Chancery Place, 50 Brown Street, where it has signed a lease on 5,500sq ft on the 11th floor.
