Northern Asian Powerlist 2020 winners – Furqan Alamgir

Furqan Alamgir, founder and chief executive officer of Connexin, won the Digital and Technology category of the inaugural Northern Asian Powerlist 2020.

The full list of winners, along with all those shortlisted, was announced on Friday 2 October.

Outlining why they had chosen Alamgir, the judges’ report described his business as one of the leading smart cities providers operating in the UK today.

Commenting on Alamgir, they note he is: “An active entrepreneur, an ambassador for Imperial College and member of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership, as well as an ambassador to the Goldman Sachs High Growth Business Development Programme.

“Furqan also worked as a surgical registrar in the NHS, which has led him to believe technology will play a huge part in how healthcare is delivered over the coming years.

“He has a special interest in telehealth, and the use of IT and, in particular, the internet in providing 21st-century healthcare.”

Alamgir said: “I am both humbled and delighted for this recognition. What I do would not be possible without the great team around me and the customers who believe in us and embrace the pioneering technology Connexin is known for.

“I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the judges and those who nominated me.”

 

Shortlisted for the Digital and Technology category were:

North East – Professor Santosh Shrivastava, co-founder, Arjuna Solutions; Sarat Pediredla, chief executive, hedgehog lab; Tan Ellahi, founder, Zookabu.

North West – Asad Shamim, chief executive, Furniture in Fashion; Jamil Khalil, founder, Wakelet; Mashukul Hoque, founder, Datacentreplus.

Yorkshire & the Humber –  Ashwain Rayit, director and Raj Rayit, technical director, SARAS Technology; Gurdip Singh, founder, and Harjit Moore, chief executive, Freeze Debt.
