MIPIM moved as pandemic impacts 2021 event

Delgates at MIPIM

International real estate conference MIPIM has rearranged its 2021 event, shifting it back to June in the hope of being able to attract exhibitors and attendees in the usual numbers.

The 2020 event, scheduled for March, was one of the first business events to be postponed because of Covid-19 that hit UK companies.

It was rearranged for June 2020 before being cancelled as the coronavirus pandemic increased in its severity across Europe.

MIPIM traditionally attracts a large number of property professionals from the UK, including city region and local authorities keen to attract investment for their regeneration schemes.

However there was a nervousness about attending in March, caused by a combination of money lost on the cancelled 2020 event, increasing pressure on budgets, and the uncertainty about whether it would be safe or appropriate to attend.

MIPIM organisers Reed MIDEM have now shifted the event back three months and it is now scheduled to take place from June 7-10, 2021, in its usual venue in Cannes, France.

MIPIM director Ronan Vaspart said: “Following discussions with clients about travel restrictions and quarantine, and having looked at the availability of the Palais des Festivals MIPIM venue next year, we have decided to hold the event in June,.

“70% of our exhibitors have already decided to confirm their participation for 2021. We look forward to welcoming the international real estate community back to Cannes.”
