Plans unveiled to transform offices into contemporary apartments

National House, Stockport

Plans have been submitted for the conversion of a Stockport office building into a contemporary residential development.

Designed by DEN Architectural Design Consultants, National House will be developed by Churchwood Properties and bring 19,000 sq ft of new apartments to the town.

Situated on Wellington Road North, between Heaton Norris and Stockport town centre, the existing commercial building will undergo a £2m change of use renovation to become 32 residential units, ranging in size from studio to two-bedroom.

Amenities include secure parking and designated cycle storage and the scheme is located just one minute’s walk from Heaton Norris Park.

Close to the M60 and Stockport train station with direct links to Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham New Street, the area is well connected by transport infrastructure.

Mr Denton added: “The Government’s reforms to the planning system earlier this year were monumental and this development is a perfect example of the potential for new homes that can lie within unused commercial properties.

“The developer was keen to deliver style as well as function and I’m confident we’ve achieved this – apartments are perfectly suited to young professionals or would make an ideal buy-to-let investment.”

DEN, which was founded in 2016, has continued its rapid growth and is currently involved in several projects across the UK exceeding a build value of £100m.
