Housebuilder reveals plans for 148-home development

An example of the homes planned for Poynton

Housebuilder Bellway has commenced work on an exciting development of 148 high-quality new-build homes off Dickens Lane in Poynton, Cheshire.

Remediation and initial groundworks are under way at the 13 acre site that will be transformed with an attractive mix of three- and four-bedroom homes, plus a number of affordable properties, to help meet local housing needs.

Known as Copperfields, the highly sought after new development will feature a mix of detached and semi-detached homes from Bellway’s Artisan Collection surrounded by landscaped areas of green space to ensure an appealing street scene.

All homes will also benefit from private gardens, off-road car parking spaces, access to charging points for electric vehicles and a superb internal specification that includes a desirable open plan kitchen dining room with French doors to the garden, choice of fitted kitchen units, integrated appliances and stylish sanitaryware.

Currently unused, the site was previously agricultural land and has been identified in Cheshire East Council’s Local Plan as a sustainable site close to a thriving market town and close to excellent commuter links that is suitable for redevelopment.

Sales director at Bellway, Hollie Reynolds, said: “We’re delighted to start work at Copperfields.

“With its fabulous location close to the Peak District, great selection of independent restaurants, cafes and bars and upmarket shops and good schools, Poynton is a highly desirable residential area that is in increasing demand from a wide variety of buyers including families, first time buyers and couples.

“The development is just a couple of minutes away from the village centre and close to the new A556 relief road that provides easy access to Manchester Airport, the motorway network and Manchester city centre and commuters can reach London easily by train from Wilmslow or Macclesfield station.

“Early interest in the development has been extremely high and we anticipate great feedback from homebuyers when we release the first properties for sale next year.”

Properties will be released for sale in Spring 2021 and the first homes will be ready for occupancy in the Summer.

Reinforcing its commitment to the communities in which it builds, Bellway will make several significant financial contributions in the locality that include more than £600,000 towards highway improvements, £130,000 towards open space improvements and £37,800 towards healthcare.

The land was purchased off Gladman Developments and Gateley Legal advised on the deal.
