Cheshire pharmacies sold at auction for almost £2m

Deeside and Galen pharmacies

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has sold Deeside Pharmacy and Galen Pharmacy in Neston, Cheshire, to independent operator, Liam Bradley.

The sites were sold off asking prices of £940,000 and £950,000, respectively.

Deeside Pharmacy is located in the village of Little Neston, and sits in a residential area adjacent to a GP surgery that has eight practicing doctors. The business dispenses an average of 9,400 NHS items per month.

Galen Pharmacy is a busy pharmacy run by two full-time pharmacists and dispenses an average of 11,850 items per month.

The pharmacy is located in Neston, just under one mile away from Deeside Pharmacy, and enjoys a prominent high street position adjacent to a GP surgery that has four doctors.

Both businesses were previously owned by J Cubbin & Sons, who decided to sell to concentrate on running its other two branches on the Wirral Peninsula.

Liam Bradley said: “I would like to thank Karl at Christie & Co for his help in getting the purchase of these two pharmacies across the line, which became longer than expected because of the effects of COVID.

“I knew these two businesses before they came on the market as we already own pharmacies nearby, and I am sure these pharmacies in the beautiful town of Neston will continue to be as successful as they were under their previous owners.”

Karl Clezy, director – medical at Christie & Co, who handled the sales, said: “It was obvious the two pharmacies would sell as a pair due to their proximity in neighbouring villages.

“Both businesses were performing well and benefited from their prime positions adjacent to health centres. The main competition in the area was Boots located on Neston High Street.”
