Accrington-based healthcare provider National Care Group (NCG) has completed the acquisition of Rotherham-based Steps Residential Care.

Funding to support the deal has been provided by Allied Irish Bank (GB) and includes additional facilities to support NCG’s continued acquisition strategy to expand its geographical presence across the UK.

Established in March 2016, NCG is an established provider of support services to vulnerable adults throughout the UK who may experience learning disabilities, mental health needs, challenging behaviour, autistic spectrum conditions, neuro-disabilities, acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities and other associated complex health needs.

NCG work with clients, family members, local authorities, and healthcare providers to provide high quality, person centred support through supported living, residential care, outreach and home support, and day services.

Steps Residential Care provides residential care for up to 26 adults with learning disabilities. The service comprises five properties on the same site in Rotherham. It has been established since 1999 and employs 58 staff.

David Rowe-Bewick, group finance director at NCG, said: “It has been a challenging and unpredictable year for all businesses across the UK and one that we are all still navigating and adapting to.

“The team at NCG have remained focused on delivering high quality person-centred support whilst expanding our services across the UK.

“The acquisition of Steps Residential Care strengthens our presence in South Yorkshire and is an obvious fit with our own organisation as we look to extend our support services to an ever-increasing number of vulnerable people.

“As we look to the future, we remain focused on further expansion both from acquisitions and organic growth.

“We have been particularly encouraged by the team at Allied Irish Bank (GB) for their continued support and see them as an integral part of the NCG journey and success. We continue to be satisfied by their pragmatic approach and confidence in our business.”

Simon King, senior relationship manager at Allied Irish Bank (GB), said: “This latest acquisition forms part of NCG’s vision to become the UK’s most trusted support provider.

“Steps Residential Care is a great addition to the Group and demonstrates their continue commitment to expand the business, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have been impressed with the approach taken by the team at NCG during this time and are delighted to help fuel their growth strategy, with additional funding facilities in place to assist future development and acquisition opportunities.”

Since its inception NCG has delivered significant growth and completed 40 acquisitions to date, of which five were backed by Allied Irish Bank (GB) funding.

Today NCG has about 2,200 staff who support approximately 1,200 people with a variety of complex needs.
