Manchester-based personal injury law firm Horwich Cohen Coghlan (HCC Solicitors) is launching a new London office in January 2021.

Patrick Maguire has been appointed to head up the new operation.

Patrick joins HCC from Slater & Gordon where his most recent role at the firm was as practice director with responsibility for the serious injury practice across the UK.

HCC continues its appointment of senior lawyers by adding his former Slater & Gordon colleague Amber Braybrooke to the new London team as an associate partner from January 2021.

HCC Solicitors, which already has offices in Manchester and Birmingham, is launching a new team of specialist lawyers in the City of London dealing with cases involving catastrophic, life-changing or fatal injuries.

The firm employs more than 200 people.

Patrick Maguire and Amber Braybrooke have advised clients in a series of high profile and very high value cases including representing victims and their families who were seriously or fatally injured in the terror attacks in London in 2017, and more recently, the victims of the Novichok nerve agent attack in Salisbury.

The pair are also keen supporters of BRAKE, the national road safety charity of which Horwich Cohen Coghlan is an official corporate partner.

Brian Coghlan, director of HCC Solicitors, said: “Adding London to our existing offices in Manchester and Birmingham now gives us a national footprint to serve our clients.

“Patrick Maguire is one of the leading serious injury experts in the country and we are delighted he is joining to lead our new London office.

“Patrick’s clients speak very warmly of his proactive and sensitive approach to their challenges and he’s exactly the kind of professional we need to run our new London team.

“Amber Braybrooke has more than 10 years of experience, supporting hundreds of clients on their journey to secure rehabilitation and compensation, and we are delighted and proud to have her on board.”

Patrick Maguire said: “I’m excited about launching a new office in London and supporting my clients through the legal process following the life-changing incident they’ve experienced.

“In HCC Solicitors I’m joining a firm of like-minded individuals who are committed to putting the interests of clients first. I’m also excited to be teaming up with my former colleague Amber Braybrooke, who I have worked closely with for many years.”

Amber Braybrooke said: “I’m excited by this new opportunity to join HCC Solicitors and work alongside Patrick to grow the team in London during 2021.

“My main focus will be to guide clients and families through the challenges they face following life-changing or fatal incidents whilst maintaining a very high level, personable and empathetic service.”

The new HCC office will be based at St Helens Place on Bishopsgate in London.
