Iconic Altrincham office building secures new occupiers

The Downs

Altrincham’s landmark building at 1-5 The Downs has added three more tenants.

After experiencing successful growth Sea Recruitment Services and AFS Biomass have taken 1,000 sq ft of first floor office accommodation on a three-year lease.

Sea Recruitment Services provide care services that benefit the deaf community, furthermore, providing staff and services that are fully accessible to people who use BSL as their first or preferred language.

AFS Biomass design, install and maintain complete industrial biomass boiler heating systems for commercial, domestic and district heating applications that will burn wood pellets, wood chips and logs.

Speaking on behalf of both companies, Ian Robinson, managing director, AFS Biomass, said: “It made sense for the two companies to join forces as we have grown our businesses in tandem over the last few years and needed more space to accommodate our expanding teams.

“We were lucky enough to find this ideal space in the town centre which suited everyone.”

PHA Model Management has relocated to Altrincham from Ardwick Green, Manchester, taking 500 sq ft on the second floor on a three-year lease.

Founded in Manchester in 1969, PHA is one of the longest established model and acting agents in Europe. It represents models, actors, presenters and creatives.

Oliver Lang, PHA Agency managing director, said: “We were looking to move out of Manchester and Altrincham’s reputation as a growing business hub appealed and this office accommodation certainly met our criteria.

“This, coupled with lowering our carbon footprint, has proved to be of our most prudent decisions to date.

“The high standard of our new location and the general popularity of Altrincham as a destination has meant we can work very well and hopefully help keep pinning Altrincham even tighter to the media industry map.”

Daniel Lee, director, Regional Property Solutions, responsible for the management and letting of the building on behalf of the landlord TELL Holdings, said: “Any available office space in this building since its makeover last year lets very quickly and this was no exception.

“The space became available during lockdown with the previous tenant’s planned expansion move and both these deals were agreed and then completed when covid restrictions eased, leaving the landlord with a very short void.”
