Steve Morgan-backed builder aiming to quadruple in size

Former Redrow Homes founder Steve Morgan is backing plans for a fourfold expansion at Macbryde Homes following a multimillion-pound management buyout in September.

Macbryde, based in St Asaph, North Wales, was bought by its managing director, Gwyn Jones, backed by Bridgmere which is owned by Mr Morgan.

Mr Jones is now rebranding the firm as Castle Green Homes as part of its plans for major growth across the North West.

Castle Green, which will complete more than 200 homes this year, is planning to quadruple the size of the business over the next five years with the strong financial backing of Bridgemere.

The new identity is designed both to capture the company’s strong 35-year history and signal its commitment to deliver homes fit for the future in line with the Government’s Green Revolution pledge.

Castle Green is currently delivering homes across 10 developments and expects to contract on five new sites across the North West before the end of December, extending its geographical footprint into new areas.

Mr Jones said: “We’re all excited at the prospect of rapidly increasing the number of new homes we build and becoming a major force in the region.

“Alongside this growth we are fully committed to offering a market-leading customer journey and being the homebuilder of choice for new home buyers.”

Bridgemere, based in Preston Brook, Cheshire, was founded by Mr Morgan, who stepped down as Redrow chairman in March 2019, and has a long track record of success in both commercial and residential development, corporate acquisition and investment activity in the UK and overseas.
