Bury firm rings up improved handset sales

YEALINK UK is reporting a rapid growth in demand for its voice over IP handsets and equipment.

The Bury-based company, which is owned by Pennine Telecoms founder Andrew Roberts, said that it expects sales of Yealink equipment to double from £723,000 last year to around £1.5m in 2010. It added that it had already surpassed the figure of 14,500 shipped handsets throughout 2010 by May 2011.

The company said that it expects to make “significant” gains this year as it has signed a number of supply deals with network carriers which will only begin to feed through to its sales figures in the latter half of 2011.

The company owns the exclusive rights to distribute Chinese Yealink phones in the UK and Ireland but also has non-exclusive rights for the rest of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, which now account for around 30% of total sales.

The firm has already appointed a new international business development director, Charles Williams, to drive exports with a particular focus on markets in the Middle East.

Roberts said: “We are trading well above target in both domestic and export markets.Andrew Roberts of Pennine Telecom

“Our core brand proposition, the delivery of premium products at affordable prices, is a strong one in any market but has particular resonance in the current economic climate.

“Resellers and their customers have swiftly latched onto that fact, which is why Yealink sales are so strong in an otherwise difficult marketplace.”
